The commonly used additives for repairing dyeing defects include reducing agents, oxidizing agents, surfactants with strong cleaning functions, and alkaline agents.
The most commonly used strong reducing agent is sodium hyposulfite (i.e. sodium hydrosulfite), which has strong color stripping ability. When used for the repair of cellulose fibers, the DH value is most stable at around 10; When used for the repair of protein fibers, organic acids can be used to adjust the pH value in a weak acid bath. It can destroy the chromogenic groups of dyes, causing the color of the fibers to disappear or most of them to disappear; Under alkaline conditions, it can also have a destructive effect on fixing agents. But its destructive ability to softeners, especially silicone softeners, is not very strong. The actual situation indicates that the role of insurance powder is mainly focused on the dye aspect.
Strong oxidizing agents such as hydrogen peroxide and sodium hypochlorite can be used for lighter color differences and color patterns, for general repair and stripping. They have a strong ability to remove impurities and dirt, effectively removing cotton seed shells, pectin, oil, wax, and mud stains on fibers, and achieving good whiteness of the fibers. But the ability to peel off the color is not as good as that of insurance powder, and the damage and removal of organic silicon lack strength, especially for the situation where oil stains have already formed.
Some surfactants with high washing efficiency are often used alone for cleaning dye floats on fibers, or in combination with alkaline agents to clean oil stains on textiles. It can effectively remove stains caused by oily substances without damaging fibers, but the removal of organic silicone oil generated substances that have reacted with fibers to form a film is weak.
Some corresponding organic solvents can also dissolve to remove organic silicon, but the dissolution method is not suitable for large area and whole cylinder treatment because of its extremely fast volatility and high cost, which is difficult to accept. In addition, the organic solvent treatment method is not suitable for fixing agents.
